The University of Northern Colorado School of Music offers award-winning, internationally-recognized programs, preparing fully-engaged leaders in the modern musical landscape.

With over 500 students and 60 faculty, the School of Music continually builds upon a longstanding legacy of achievement with an important regional, national, and international presence. The School of Music has been named a Colorado School of Excellence, the highest honor the Colorado Commission on Higher Education can bestow on a program offered by a state institution of higher education. Artistic excellence is the norm here. UNC students enter the field with something important to offer and our world-class faculty provide the training that allows their voices to be fully heard.

The UNC School of Music offers one of the largest and most comprehensive music programs in the country. Nearly half of all music educators teaching in Colorado are UNC alumni, and the school has been awarded over 100 Downbeat Awards (including 6 in 2016). The School of Music hosts more than 250 performances and festivals each year: the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival, Open Space Festival of New Music, faculty and student recitals, large and chamber ensemble performances, and four Opera Theatre productions are just some of the world-class performances that take place each year. Students live and study in the dynamic and arts-rich community of Greeley, a friendly city of 100,000 just an hour north of Denver, and perform regularly in the many local venues that support live music.

Our faculty and alumni are leaders in education, performance, and music scholarship all over the world. Students who seek innovation built upon a foundation of musical excellence will find their place at the UNC School of Music. The modern musical landscape contains tremendous opportunity and our students are fully engaged and prepared to be leaders in it.
